Sit, Stay, Love: How to Master the Basics

Training doesn’t have to be serious—it can be fun, lighthearted, and full of treats! Teaching your pet basic commands builds trust and helps them feel more confident in daily life.

Here are 3 easy ones to start with:

  1. Sit
Hold a treat above their nose, then slowly move it back toward their ears. As their head follows, their bottom naturally drops. The moment they sit—boom!—reward and say “Sit.”
  2. Stay
Once your pet can sit, try asking them to “Stay” while you take a step back. Start small, and reward even short pauses.
  3. Come
Say “Come” in a happy voice while crouching down with open arms. When they run over, celebrate like crazy. Make it fun every time!

🎯 Training Tip: Keep sessions short and sweet—5 to 10 minutes is plenty. Always end on a positive note.
